Icons and Art

My passion for the liturgical arts began prior to my ordination to the priesthood... in the Episcopal Church, U.S.A. The most spiritually formational moments in my youth came from my inattention to the audible language of the church—being drawn to the imagery of the church, especially through stained glass windows.

The spiritual discipline and contemplative nature of the study of iconology is something I have been doing under the tutelage of Mr. Vladislav Andrejev and his son, Dmitri for over 10 years. The discipline of writing icons continues to further deepen my prayer life and inform my understanding of God.  Icons remain a window of understanding that I seek  and need.
